RISC Zero Enters into an Exclusive Alliance with Worldcoin

RISC Zero, a cryptocurrency venture focused on creating a scalable and user-friendly blockchain with zero-knowledge proofs, has announced a collaboration with Worldcoin, an open-source and decentralized protocol that enables global economic access. RISC Zero shared this news on their official X account.

RISC Zero is excited to join forces with Worldcoin, as they aim to free up blockspace on the World Chain using proof aggregation. By utilizing their Universal Verifier and Steel projects, RISC Zero is unlocking verifiable and limitless computing power for the Superchain ecosystem. They believe that the future lies in verified transactions.

In a separate blog post, RISC Zero provided more details about the functionality of Steel. This project marks a significant change in the way developers interact with EVM-based chains. Steel combines zero-knowledge proofs with RISC Zero’s zkVM, allowing developers to perform view calls and compute and read over Ethereum in a secure, scalable, and cost-effective manner. This bridges the gap between zero-knowledge technology and app development on Ethereum, making it easier for developers to utilize ZK for smart contracts and build efficient and secure applications on Ethereum layer 1 or other EVM-equivalent chains.

The partnership between RISC Zero and Worldcoin benefits both developers and users. RISC Zero’s Universal Verifier will be available on multiple chains, enabling affordable and convenient on-chain proof posting. Developers and blockchains can leverage off-chain computing and verifiable execution without limitations. Developers can seamlessly develop proofs and validate them on-chain using Rust projects in RISC Zero’s zkVM. They can also utilize Rust crates for tasks like HTML parsing, JWT verification, and game development through game engines. On the other hand, users can enjoy decentralized applications on-chain that resemble traditional Web2 apps but also take advantage of off-chain execution. This eliminates performance tradeoffs and enhances the overall user experience.
