Daniil Romazanov serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at PARSIQ, a leading company in blockchain data technology. With over ten years of experience in developing complex IT systems for various enterprises and startups, Romazanov has played a crucial role in managing, leading, and actively participating in the development and architectural decisions of these projects. He initially joined PARSIQ as a Product Owner and later transitioned to the role of CTO.

Romazanov’s career path leading up to his current position at PARSIQ has been a long and continuous journey. Immediately after completing high school, he started working as a Junior Developer at a software development company. Since then, he has been consistently involved in numerous projects, taking on different roles that primarily focused on hands-on development. However, he also occasionally ventured into team management and development leadership.

Throughout his career, Romazanov has worked on various projects in diverse industries. He has built backends, frontends, mobile apps, hardware, firmwares, voice assistants, and more for sectors such as consumer electronics, airline support, sales systems, SEO systems, gaming, and education, among others. Before joining PARSIQ, he felt content in his previous position and had no plans to switch jobs for several years. However, life took an unexpected turn, leading him to his current role.

When asked about his inspiration for getting involved in blockchain technology, Romazanov humorously quoted John C. McGinley from the TV show Scrubs, stating that he joined the blockchain world for the “chicks, money, power, and chicks.” Jokes aside, two main factors influenced his decision. Firstly, he received an invitation to join PARSIQ from Alan D, the former CTO and Romazanov’s ex-colleague from a previous employer. Secondly, Romazanov’s hunger for learning and exploring new concepts and paradigms motivated him to seize the opportunity to work with blockchain technology. He had missed out on the blockchain revolution for a long time and was excited to finally immerse himself in it.

Romazanov believes that blockchain technology has transformative potential in both public and private infrastructure. In the public space, blockchain offers digital and financial freedom by eliminating the need for intermediaries like banks and governments. It allows individuals in unfair situations to be treated equally. On the other hand, private and semi-private blockchain infrastructure can enhance transparency and efficiency in various industries such as medicine, supply chains, governments, logistics, and education. The immutability provided by blockchain technology can revolutionize these sectors.

Romazanov’s vision for blockchain aligns with the mission of Reactive Network, the company he works for. Reactive Network focuses on improving the development experience in the blockchain space, which ultimately enhances the user experience. By enabling developers to build more intelligent decentralized applications (dApps) and offloading expensive computations, Reactive Network makes dApps more cost-effective and efficient. It also bridges the gap between different blockchains, allowing dApps to have a broader understanding of their ecosystem.

When asked about the future of blockchain technology in the next five to ten years, Romazanov expressed that it could either lead to the bright future everyone dreams of or be overshadowed by countless meme coins. He emphasized that there are still many technical challenges to overcome, such as scalability, security, decentralization, data accessibility, irrelevant ecosystems, and environmental concerns. Additionally, economic obstacles like liquidity separation also pose significant challenges. Romazanov believes that if these issues are not resolved within the next decade, the future of blockchain could be at risk.

Regarding emerging technologies or trends in Web3, Romazanov highlighted the importance of Zero Knowledge Proofs in public blockchain infrastructure. He believes that by reducing the need for every participant to reprocess every transaction, blockchain can achieve sustainability. Romazanov considers most other trends as noise unless they directly or indirectly improve the user or developer experience.

In terms of cultivating a positive and productive culture within his team, Romazanov acknowledges that although he lacks a hardcore computer science background, his team members possess the necessary expertise. He prioritizes listening over speaking and encourages his team members to freely express their thoughts without unnecessary interference. By providing them with the freedom to contribute and be part of something bigger, Romazanov believes that both the team and the product can continuously grow.

As the CTO of PARSIQ, Romazanov finds his job highly rewarding. He enjoys the opportunities and freedoms that come with the role, such as constant learning, staying at the forefront of the market, presenting and teaching others, and personal and professional growth. While the position entails significant responsibilities, Romazanov believes that the rewards outweigh the challenges.

To aspiring tech leaders looking to innovate in the blockchain space, Romazanov advises them to listen more and focus on utilizing the skills and strengths of their team members to create value for the company. He emphasizes that success in the blockchain industry is ultimately about people and their abilities to contribute effectively.
