An AI-driven blockchain analysis company, Arkham, recently reported that the exploiter of Orbit Chain, a multi-asset blockchain forum, has transferred stolen funds totaling up to $32 million to Tornado Cash, a non-custodial, open-source, and decentralized crypto mixer. This development was shared on the social media platform X by Arkham, revealing that the exploiter had been inactive for five months before making this sudden move.
Initially, the exploiter had stolen a significant amount close to $100 million from Orbit Chain. After the theft, the exploiter remained silent to avoid detection, but eventually decided to transfer $32 million to Tornado Cash. The analytics provider disclosed that the stolen assets included $DAI and $ETH, among others. The exploiter had also taken $WBTC, $USDC, $DAI, $USDT, and ETH in the previous theft.
Despite the recent transfer, the exploiter still holds over $66 million in $ETH and more than $20 million in $USDT and $DAI. The hack was attributed to security vulnerabilities related to private keys, and now the exploiter has taken steps to deposit the stolen assets into Tornado Cash. The situation continues to unfold as Arkham monitors the ongoing activity of the exploiter.
