The past week witnessed significant losses in the realm of cryptocurrency security breaches. SlowMist, a reputable blockchain security platform, reported multiple security incidents resulting in a total loss of more than $8.8 million. The details of these incidents were shared on SlowMist’s official X account.
The latest “Weekly Security Report” by SlowMist, covering the period from June 3 to June 9, 2024, highlighted five major security breaches. These incidents involved Loopring, Gemholic, TLN Protocol, SteamSwap, and NCD, all of which led to substantial financial losses. Loopring suffered a $5 million loss due to a security flaw in the Loopring Smart Wallets, allowing an attacker to steal investors’ assets. Gemholic experienced a rug pull scam, resulting in a loss of $3.4 million as the project vanished along with investors’ funds.
Three of the incidents were attributed to contract vulnerabilities. The attacker targeted TLN Protocol, exploiting a contract vulnerability to cause a loss of approximately $280,000 on BNBChain. SteamSwap also fell victim to a contract vulnerability, resulting in a loss of around $105,000 on BNBChain. The attack on NCD, due to a contract vulnerability, led to a loss of nearly $20,000 on BNBChain.
